Description

The Flats River Skiff 18 is perfect for those wanting to take their family and friends out with them to fish. With an aft deadrise of 12 degrees and sharp entry forward you will have a smooth ride with minimal draft, allowing you to access your favorite fishing spots.  This design (the largest of the FRS series) is unique because it offers the builder the layout option of bay boat plans (open interior with forward recessed deck) or flats boat plans (full deck fore and aft).   The FRS-18 has ample capacity for all your accessories such as a trolling motor, casting platforms, power poles etc.   Steering for the bay boat configuration is a center console with a leaning post/seat, while the flats configuration makes use of the rear deck for seating either as a center console or side console.

  • Ideal for a first time boat builder with previous woodworking and/or carpentry experience
  • 2 interior layout options, bay boat or flats boat (both are included in the boat plans)
  • Boat plans include full size patterns for tracing (easily cut with a jig saw or skilsaw)
  • Plywood Kit includes all plywood pre-cut by CNC and flotation foam (see notes on Materials List)

What are stitch and glue boat plans?

Stitch and glue boat plans are great for amateur boat builders!

Stitch and glue boat building uses marine grade plywood that is stitched together with zipties and glued with epoxy resin.  The first step is to trace the full size patterns onto marine grade plywood and cut them out.  Then you will hold everything in place with zipties so you can install the simple frame.   After that, apply thickened epoxy to glue everything together.  All wood is sealed with epoxy resin and covered with fiberglass for additional strength.  Finally, roll on some paint and enjoy the ride!
